India’s vision of a USD 5 Trillion Economy hinges on the growth of the industrial sector, and the eight core industrial sectors are leading the way, accounting for 40% of the Index of Industrial Production (IIP). Despite hurdles, the industry reported 8% growth in June 2022, except for steel and crude oil, reflecting the positive impact of MSMEs that have been offering innovative and cost-effective solutions to meet the increasing demand for quality industrial goods.
To support these MSMEs, various funding options are available, including government schemes like Trade Related Entrepreneurship Assistance and Development (TREAD) for women entrepreneurs to start or expand their businesses in the industrial sector, Cluster Development Programme (CDP) to promote MSME clusters, and Industrial Infrastructure Upgradation Scheme (IIUS) to provide financial support for modern infrastructure facilities, all aimed at enhancing competitiveness and productivity.
